about my practice
5 Elements Osteopathy is shaped by movement, flow, and deep respect for the natural world and the body’s inherent ability to heal.
It is rooted in a blend of Western medical knowledge and traditional healing systems, guided by the principle that true wellness arises from balance across body, mind, and spirit. I have been deeply touched by the ancient indigenous medicine of Ayurveda, sister science of Yoga.
Osteopathic Medicine is a whole-person approach to hands-on care. It integrates a deep understanding of the musculoskeletal system, metabolism, circulation, the nervous system, and mental-emotional health with contemporary medical knowledge. DOs (Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine) are trained to use their hands to sense, diagnose, and treat—always listening for the priorities set by the body’s own healing intelligence.
Creating a plan that works for you
In my practice, I draw from traditional Eastern healing systems to include Japanese acupuncture, shiatsu, and cupping. These practices complement osteopathy by emphasizing palpation, energy flow, and individualized care.
Ayurveda, adds poetic depth to medical understanding. It offers a framework for interpreting imbalances through the lens of elemental qualities—heat, cold, dry, wet, sharp dull, and so on. Through understanding individuals constitutions (genetics and epigenetics) treatments are tailored accordingly through food, herbs, lifestyle, and following seasonal rhythms.
Narrative medicine and Indigenous healing traditions remind us that health is also shaped by story—our relationships with land, community, and self. These approaches help re-frame how we experience illness and healing.
By integrating these perspectives, I strive to offer care that is responsive, respectful, and attuned to the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
